Having coached at every level and all over the world it would be easy for Dave to say he has seen it all, but that's not the case. Mr. King remains as invested in learning and exploring his craft as the youngest and newest coaches out there. Both were presenters at a special coaching conference put on by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association this past June.

TDB Digest #34 Mark Maloney on the Parent Code

He's back, our head honcho, Mark Maloney guides us through his parent code. Following on the heels of our most popular Digest podcast ever, which delved into the topic of evaluations, we discuss the importance of parent and coach communication. Mark explains how a coach can expect the priorities of a athlete's parents to change through he season. We talk about the best ways for a parent to approach a coach with their concerns. This week we discuss a very timely and sensitive subject, for some, as we talk about evaluations. With a new hockey season right around the corner it is time to check in with a friend. Jordan Sigalet is the goalie coach for the Calgary Flames of the NHL. Last year the Flames were a surprise play-off team little doubt that Sigalet had a role in that success with his work with the 'tenders. Not bad for a guy who was in his first season coaching in the show. Jordan had spent a number of seasons in the American Hockey League working with Calgary prospects before last years promotion. A goaltender himself, Sigalet has quickly established his own philosophy for working with netminders. In our conversation he shares some of that philosophy and he also chronicles his inspirational journey in hockey and life.
